In January 2008, a group of adventurous individuals took part in Cycle India 2008, the most ambitious fundraising event Heal has ever undertaken.
And it was a great success!
The team consisted of 20 UK cyclists, 3 from the US, and a further 8 local people from Andhra Prasdesh, making the charity bike ride a real international event. There were also 8 further non-cyclists from the UK who were there for support, and to help film and photograph the whole event.
We raised over £100,000 for Heal, which will be used for helping develop a new project in Andhra Pradesh, and helping provide more children with health and education. In addition to fundraising, the event provided an opportunity for people from the UK, US and India to work together to create an event which succeeded on so many levels, not least the spirit of friendship which developed amongst the team members and their supporters. We then repeated the event in January 2010 this time in Coorg, Karnataka raising a further £70,000 for Heal
In fact, we are now looking for recruits for Cycle India 2012!
We are looking to provide a similar event as the ones in 2008 and 2010, with a maximum of 50 cyclists from the UK, US and around the world. This website has been designed as a method of finding new cyclists for our 2012 event in Kerala.
So if you are interested in taking part, you need to get your name down ASAP. Please contact Matthew Glover, Head of Fundraising at matthew@conservatoryoutlet.co.uk
