Great selection of pictures. I like their traditional dress, such as in the fifth one down.

These photographs and others on this weblog are momentary glimpses stringing lives filled with every challenge that one can imagine and then some. Yet, there are more smiles here than in any country I have lived in or travelled through the so-called new world. THIS IS INDIA the mystery, the enigma, the unexplainable. You referred to the generosity of those who have nothing, this is India’s trademark that can NEVER be patented anywhere else on earth. I hope in my next life too I am born in India and live there and then once again travel through the world beyond. Why you might ask? Only because when you are born and raised in India you are centered, regardless of one’s naivete compared to someone from the west, in a way that is impossible anywhere else in the world (allowing for some exceptions). It is as if the individual becomes calibrated to the axis of the universe.

Thank you for your descriptions and beautiful photographs of smiling, sublime, simple and sacred India. You found the true India, even though you found it’s single speed bicycles a bit backwards :-)

    Peace,

    Biraj
